Streetscape & pedestrian plaza improvements
Design and construction of pedestrian-oriented streetscape elements—paving, seating, lighting, tree pits and minor landscape interventions—intended to improve walkability, accessibility and the public realm’s durability. The brief focuses on long-life materials, easy maintainability and inclusive access while creating comfortable, legible spaces for everyday civic life.
PROJECT CONCEPT
The streetscape concept treats the public realm as a simple, durable toolkit that improves pedestrian comfort and safety while minimizing long-term maintenance. Interventions include continuous accessible pavings with clear tactile cues for wayfinding, strategically placed seating and sheltering elements for rest, and integrated low-glare lighting to extend safe hours of use. Planting design favors low-maintenance species in engineered tree pits with sub-surface irrigation and root barriers to protect paving. Drainage and micro-grading are coordinated to avoid ponding while keeping maintenance access simple. The result is a resilient, human-scaled public space that encourages walking and short-stay social interaction without imposing heavy upkeep burdens.
- Accessible paving and tactile wayfinding for all users.
- Integrated seating, lighting and low-maintenance planting.
- Coordinated drainage and durable material selection.
